Yesterday was an absolutely incredible, so you better bet that on Wild Wednesday we want to share some highlights from a standout day for DJDS Athletics and for our school community as a whole.

The day began with a lively and loud school-wide pep rally, bringing together students from PK through 12th grade. From Mogy half-court shot attempts to a Lower Division vs. Upper Division staff knockout game, the rally set the tone for a day centered on school spirit and community connection.  The excitement was palpable!

At Ball Arena, hundreds of DJDS students, families, faculty, and staff filled the stands in a coordinated blackout, matching the teams’ uniforms and creating a powerful visual presence. The atmosphere reflected one of the many things that makes DJDS special: students supported by their peers, educators, and families, all showing up with so much Tiger (and of course Denver Nuggets!) ruach.

Both the boys and girls varsity basketball teams won their games (sadly, we can't say the same for our injury-beleaguered pro team, though they fought valiantly!), competing on the official Denver Nuggets court—the same floor where NBA icons Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokić play. For our student-athletes, this was a rare and meaningful opportunity to experience the scale, professionalism, and energy of an NBA arena while proudly representing DJDS.

Moments like this certainly help answer the question "why DJDS" for these remarkable students and families—not just because of the wins, but because they give students the experience of competing, being supported, and feeling part of something larger (and in the case of playing on the same court as pro basketball players who are 7 feet tall, we mean this quite literally...) than themselves.
