WRC is planning a return to the United States, but it’s not official yet.

A WRC “candidate event” is scheduled for 2026, which is essentially a test rally run to full FIA/WRC standards. The goal is to evaluate safety, logistics, roads, and fan interest (no need to prove that).

The planned location is the Tennessee/Kentucky region, and if the 2026 event is successful, the USA could be added as a full WRC championship round as early as 2027. This means the cars will be WRC27 which is an all new regulation replacing the short-lived Rally1, allowing more manufacturers and privateers to enter the top class in WRC.

The United States hasn’t hosted a WRC round since 1988 (Olympus Rally), so this would be a major comeback.

If this comes true, then the rally will likely have high speed gravel stages, possibly even a Super Special Stage at Nashville Super Speedway road course.

Would you like to see WRC America in the near future? Is there a certain manufacturer that we would like to see come back?
