Arizona Senate Republicans are formally calling for Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes to resign after she made comments about the state’s “Stand Your Ground” laws and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The resolution, SCR 1036, comes after Mayes suggested the circumstances under which the public could use deadly force against law enforcement officers.

Republican lawmakers said Tuesday her comments were “dangerously misrepresented Arizona law.”

Mayes came to her own defense, arguing the opposite, saying her remarks were mischaracterized.
