Most “tight” muscles aren’t actually short…they’re under-supported.

Tightness is often the brain creating tension to protect a joint it doesn’t trust.

If a muscle lacks strength or control, the nervous system increases tone for stability.

Stretching alone doesn’t fix that problem: building strength does.

Train the hips through all major motions: with control, not shortcuts.

1️⃣ Flexion
• Standing band or cable marches
• Hanging or supported knee raises
➡️ Lift with control, slow on the way down

2️⃣Rotation (internal + external)
• Hip airplanes (bodyweight to start + then load)
• Split-stance band rotations
➡️ Move slow, pelvis stays controlled

3️⃣Abduction
• Side-lying plank dips
• Banded lateral walks
➡️ Stay stacked, no swinging

4️⃣Adduction
• Side-lying adduction raises
• Slider or lateral lunges
➡️ Long range, smooth reps

5️⃣ Extension
• Hip thrusts / glute bridges
• Reverse lunges or split squats
➡️ Finish tall, don’t overextend

⸻

KEY PRINCIPLES
✔️ Full range of motion — earn every degree
✔️ Progressive overload — control → reps → load
✔️ Execution > intensity — slow reps build durable hips

1-2x/week. If you rush it, you miss the point.
