HUDSON ICEBREAKING: Ice on the Hudson River has become thick enough that the U.S. Coast Guard is conducting icebreaking operations to keep traffic moving. Officials say the prolonged bitter cold is disrupting river use for commerce, fuel deliveries and public transportation.
 
Multiple vessels, including two 140-foot Bay Class icebreaking tugboats based in Bayonne, are working to ensure ferries and commercial ships can continue operating safely.
