## Caption

Demolition work begins soon on one of the Queen City's best-known buildings: the Crosley Tower, a 16-story Brutalist icon that's loomed large over the University of Cincinnati's campus since 1969.

Because of the structure's height, design and location − tucked into a cramped edge of the school's urban campus – it will take a full year to raze it. Crews will demolish it floor by floor. Demolition is expected to be completed by February 2027.

Cincinnati's woman-owned O'Rourke Wrecking Co. is leading the project with construction manager Skanska. Last spring, the university's board of trustees approved $47.3 million for the demolition and remediation of Crosley Tower and a neighboring parking garage on Clifton Court.

The University of Cincinnati is planning to build a new STEM facility in its place by June 2029. So far, renderings for the project have not been released. It is expected to start construction next year.
