Even when he was thousands of miles from home, Jakobe Scott’s daughters were never far from his thoughts. Now for the first time since his U.S. Army service ended, the 24-year-old veteran is settling into a routine centered on fatherhood. 

“It’s a good feeling for real,” he said. “When I was in the military, I barely saw them at all.”

Jakobe recently moved into an apartment in College Hill after a difficult transition out of the Army. He works nights as a security officer while trying to build a stable home for his girls. He hopes they come to see the space as a new beginning.

Jakobe sees furnishing his new home as an important step in giving his daughters, Alani and Kamila, the environment they deserve. Beds so they're well-rested. A sofa to curl up on during story time. A dining table where he can help with homework and pray with them before meals. 

Wish List support translates to more than furniture for Jakobe. It represents a fresh start after a long season of instability. It’s the chance to build new memories, surrounded by loved ones.
