## Caption

Singing and drumming together is one of the earliest forms of musical expression—a practice of independence and coordination that places us right at the center of the sound and pulse.

Through percussion and rhythm, we explore how different musical traditions connect. 

Here, with bàtá and voice accompanied by piano and congas, I’m breaking ‘Touch My Soul’ down to its acoustic essence, tracing the rhythmic links between Yoruba traditions and Cuban Rumba.

Melody is fluid. Rhythm is adaptable. When you strip a song down like this, you start to hear the many different interpretations it can hold.
