🌿 Native Plant of the Week
Say hello to coral honeysuckle (Lonicera sempervirens, Zones 5–9)—a native vine that’s as easygoing as it is showy.

From Maine to Florida, it lights up gardens with red-to-coral blooms from spring through fall—no fuss, no heavy scent, just pure hummingbird magnetism.

Here’s why we love it:
• Grows up to 15 feet but won’t take over your life
• Semi-evergreen in the South, deciduous up North
• Loved by butterflies, hummingbirds, and songbirds (hello, red berries!)
• Full sun = best flower show
• Tolerates a range of soils if it drains well

🌼 Cultivar crushes:
‘Major Wheeler’ (coral-red)
‘Tangerine Princess’ (coral-orange)
‘John Clayton’ + ‘Sulphurea’ (yellow)

Design tip: Let it climb a trellis or wrap around a lamp post. It’ll even trail as a groundcover if you’re feeling low-key (just expect fewer flowers).
