🌱 GARDEN TIP OF THE WEEK
Turn Your Lawn Into a Pollinator Haven

Yes, traditional lawns get a bad rap—but they don’t have to be ecological dead zones. With a few tweaks, you can turn yours into a low-growing, pollinator-friendly habitat that still handles foot traffic.

🐝 These “bee lawns” mix turfgrass with flowering plants—and according to UMN_Extension, they can attract over 50 native bee species. (Don’t stress—these bees are mellow and won’t bother you.)

Here’s how to start:
• Add flowers by seeding or planting plugs—look for bee lawn mixes that suit your region and turf type.

• Native options include: baby blue eyes, five spot, western yarrow, blue-eyed grass, lanceleaf coreopsis, Virginia springbeauty

• Already got “weeds”? Some are native—like lyreleaf sage, Florida betony, and selfheal. Let them stay.

• Mow less often so flowers can bloom and actually feed the bees.

A lush green lawn that also supports pollinators? That’s a win-win.
