Looking for a low-fuss perennial that brings major pollinator energy and looks great doing it? Meet blue wild indigo. Native to eastern and central North America, this bushy beauty grows 3–4 feet tall and bursts into spires of deep blue-purple flowers in early summer.⁠

New plants may take a couple of years to settle in—but it’s worth the wait.⁠
⁠
Why we love it:⁠
• Supports native bees, butterflies, and even hummingbirds⁠
• A larval host for eastern tailed-blues and orange sulphurs⁠
• Fixes nitrogen in the soil (thanks, legumes)⁠
• Deer, rabbit, and insect resistant⁠
• Those black seed pods? Chic fall bonus⁠
