Madison365 staff recently reflected on their favorite stories of 2025. In April 2025, they spotlit an inspiring local business with a big mission.

Micah Robinson ’25, MS in Human Ecology alum, is the co-owner of Baldwin’s Books & Records, a Black- and trans-owned pop-up bookstore rescuing queer and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) books and records and giving them a second life.

Alongside co-owner Lily Someson, Robinson curates refurbished, affordable used books and records (all $15 or less), making powerful stories accessible at a time when many are being banned or discarded. What started as browsing local book sales has grown into a community-centered act of resistance—rooted in sustainability, affordability and belonging:
