Last Friday, the Interfraternity Council had the opportunity to hear from Chancellor Sonny Perdue at the Hunt Family Lecture Series. Chancellor Perdue’s journey from a student-athlete and Kappa Sigma brother at the University of Georgia to national leadership highlights a lifetime of service and accomplishment. After earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and serving in the U.S. Air Force, he built several successful businesses and later entered public service, becoming Georgia’s 81st governor. As governor, he prioritized education, healthcare, job creation and public safety. 

150 UGA students and staff heard Chancellor Purdue’s story of defining and understanding his own values. He stressed the importance of prioritizing your individuality before you enter the workforce, and he reiterated the opportunities and connections IFC gave him when he started his career. 

We are incredibly grateful for Chancellor Perdue’s time and willingness to share his insight on how to be oneself, lead a family and impact the world.
