Did you know that giant cuttlefish (Sepia apama) have three different “genders” of behaviour, not just male and female?

During mating season, some smaller males use a clever trick called “split signaling.” They turn one side of their body female-coloured to fool nearby dominant males, while showing normal male colours to a female on the other side. This lets them sneak in and mate without starting a fight.”
