LIONS SURGE PAST EAGLES IN FINALE: The jserraboyssoccer team detonated an explosive response to an early deficit on Tuesday, as the Lions overwhelmed the Santa Margarita Eagles 6-2 in the Trinity League and regular season finale at Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Rancho Santa Margarita.

JSerra finishes the regular season at 7-4-3 overall and 5-3-2 in league.

It was a tale of two halves within the first half of the clash between the Lions and Eagles.

Santa Margarita struck for two goals in the first 17 minutes to assume a 2-0 lead.

But JSerra answered emphatically in the final 20 minutes preceding halftime.

Junior Hudson Garner cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 20th minute, as he knocked a shot into the far post corner of the goal on an attacking run off an assist from junior Aquiles Rodriguez.

Garner struck for the second time in the 30th minute to tie the score at 2-2, as he corralled a great diagonal lead pass from sophomore Carter Biondolillo and once again produced a shot that found the far post corner of the goal.

Biondolillo put the Lions ahead 3-2 in the 34th minute, as he collected a corner kick from Rodriguez that got knocked around the box and booted a shot into the back of the net.

Junior Cade Dietz, freshman Tucker Resh, and sophomore Landon Shafizadeh capped the resurgent triumph with second half goals for the Lions.
