It’s graduation week???

If you told the little girl crying and screaming after breaking her foot downhill skiing that it would turn into the biggest blessing of her life, she probably would have throat-punched you.

But that’s how the cookie crumbled.
9-year-old B was devastated when the doctor said she couldn’t play soccer or ski for a year. My mom knew there was no way I would be able to sit still, so the doctor recommended track and field. And I went to my first practice.
Did I like it? Absolutely not.
Did I keep going? Absolutely.

Before I knew it, I fell in love with the diversity of the sport, the people, and the concept of track. It was never about being the best — it was about being better than the person you were yesterday.

It’s never been about winning.
It’s always been about self-development and growth.
Are you beating your own records? Are you becoming better? (Tip: ask how it went, and if it’s a pr:) not did you win?)

Once I realized I didn’t have to run, I was quick to pick up the implements. And once I met Kai, it was game over. Track wasn’t just a time slot on my weekly schedule anymore — it became home. It became everything.

There was nothing I wanted more than the feeling of perfect execution:
the balance of power, explosion, control, and technique.

So yes, I’ve been doing track for 15 years.
The sport has broken my heart in so many ways — but I’ve never truly been ready to quit.
And honestly, I’m still not.

Track is so much more than just a sport to me.
It’s given me experiences, friendships, and opportunities that I never would have had otherwise.

I’m incredibly grateful that even after 15 years of staring at a big circle — and 4.5 years of competing at the collegiate level —
I’m even more in love with this sport than when I first began.

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey.
Is this the end of track? Who knows.
But either way, this sport has brought me places and taught me lessons that have shaped me into who I am today.

So thank you, track.
Thank you for everything.
