Please join us in congratulating Venus Raine Underhill venusian.poesy for completing their Hamilton-based Artist Residency AND Exhibition over this last year. It really is no small feat, especially from an emerging artist — from the submission process, ideation, learning with Centre[3]'s digital facilities, to seeing the exhibition come to life. 🍀

Supported by thecityofhamilton, the Hamilton-based Artist Residency + Exhibition recognizes how artistic expressions are tied to the place we situate, the space we occupy, and the people whom we share the space with. Using found objects from the "alleyways and polluted Hamilton shores" together with collagework and poetry, "conversation within the void of myself" presents an introspective dreamland (wasteland?) exploring the possibilities of healing, growth, and twisted resiliency.

"Similar to my subject matter, what I expected the process and end result to look like was very different from what it evolved into. I learned a lot about trusting myself and my work; how to build consistency and confidence within my practice while letting go of my desire for control. I am left with the recognition that I am doing myself a disservice when I try to conform to how others work, instead of honoring what works for me. I am so grateful for being given this opportunity, both in access to all of the resources Centre3 provides as well as the space to express myself!"
