Yesterday I took a leap of faith. After 16 years, I have decided to move on from the sport of swimming as an athlete. There are so many emotions that come from this event in my life and I am still trying to process all of those feelings right now. But I have spent sometime thinking about my relationship with the sport. 

I asked myself “Did I accomplish all of my goals that I had going into college?” To which I answer no I didn’t hit the goals of competing at NCAAs or being on the conference team and winning ACCs. The sport itself can be absolutely brutal on its athletes. But I realized that it’s not all about the trophies, times, or championships. I have come to love that I was given an opportunity to be a part of a second family and learn so many life lessons through the sport of swimming! One of the most important things that I was able to learn was best put in a quote by Rocky Balboa. “It ain’t about hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.” Life is going to throw so much at all of us and I thank swimming for that. 

Anyways, I want to start by thanking @bradenholloway and @packswimdive for taking that chance on the local kid from a smaller club team in Durham! Without them I wouldn’t have been able to enjoy all of the great things that college swimming has to offer! I want to thank the PBG specifically, every single one of you are my brothers and will be for the rest of my life and beyond! There is a reason I have that diamond tattooed on my body permanently, love y’all and long live the PBG🐺♦️! Next I would like to thank some of my closest friends, I wish I could list everyone on here but that would be too much. @nicholasfalise thank you for making our club swimming days an absolute blast. @thebigcheese456 thank you for lighting that competitive fire over the past decade plus of swimming, you pushed me further than you realize! @devin.bunner thank you for your never-ending support you truly are my brother for life!

Finally, I want to thank my family @k_weaver214 @joshweaver4480 @swimbear923 for always supporting me all these years. Without you I wouldn’t be who I am today! Thank you!❤️
