💗 I was scheduled to give the keynote speech  at a mother–daughter charity event tea, but the ice storm forced us to cancel. Still, the message I planned to share hasn’t changed.

In a room full of teen girls and their moms, I wanted to talk about a love that sometimes feels difficult but the kind of love that tells the truth. As moms, our goal isn’t to win popularity poins. It’s to help you stay safe and healthy. We want you to be as happy as possible for as much as the day allows… but sometimes the choices that protect you most  can feel unfair in the moment.

We hope that one day, our voice becomes your inner voice..the reminder that you can do hard things, stay committed and that you deserve better than anything that makes you feel small. We’ve hit the potholes ourselves, we've often chosen the wrong partner and if we can help you avoid even a few of those bumps, we will.

So when we’re firm, when we push back, when we tell you the truth, it isn’t because we don’t understand, it's because we do. When we tell you the truth, it's because we are trying to protect what we love most.
