Tomorrow we celebrate Alex's birthday. In 2023, we honored what would have been his birthday by unveiling something extraordinary in San Marco Square.

Artist David Nackashi Art explains the genius behind #BeTheFocus: "When you pose in front of the mural, the mural's out of focus and you're in focus—which I think is the point of the mission, for you, the individual, to be in focus."

What started as a "bland, beige wall" in the heart of San Marco became something that draws people in. David's hope? "To drive by and see a line of people ready to take their picture in front of it."

But this isn't just about photo opportunities. Like all our murals, it includes a QR code connecting viewers to mental health resources. David captures it perfectly: "To draw somebody in with a mural and then give them the information that Sheryl is wanting to relay to everybody—I think that's a wonderful accomplishment."

Every dragonfly, every mural, every person we touch ensures Alex's legacy lives on. When you stand between those wings tomorrow on his birthday, you become the focus—just as your mental health should be the focus of your self-care.
