🚀From classroom to orbit! Students and professors from the Popular Autonomous University of the State of Puebla (upaepoficial) in 🇲🇽Mexico had an unforgettable day today — their CubeSat Gxiba-1 was deployed from the International Space Station! (iss) 🌍🛰️
 
Here in Vienna, during a STSC side event, we joined the excitement and watched it live — a proud day for Mexico and a reminder of what global cooperation can achieve. 🤝
 
🛰️ Gxiba-1 was selected under the 6th round of KiboCUBE, a joint programme by UNOOSA and JAXA (jaxajp). It will monitor volcanic activity from space, supporting disaster risk reduction and local research.
 
This is part of UNOOSA’s Access to Space for All programme, bringing space benefits to countries regardless of their space sector’s maturity.
 
🎓 Now it’s your turn. We’ve just launched new rounds of:
 
✅ DropTES: Conduct microgravity experiments at Germany’s Bremen Drop Tower or GraviTower.
📅 Apply by 30 June 2026
 
✅ HyperGES: Run experiments under hypergravity using ESA’s Large Diameter Centrifuge in the Netherlands.
📅 Apply by 1 June 2026
 
Both programmes are open to teams from UN Member States located in developing and transitioning economies.
