With Bangladesh's national elections coming up this month, reporters’ rights remain at stake. Based on our recent report with centreforgovernancestudiesbd, #TrialWatch urges the country’s future leaders to ensure the law provides avenues for journalist protection – not prosecution. 

The Attorney General of Bangladesh agrees. At our report launch in Dhaka, he called for abolishing laws that repress journalists’ rights. He warned that repealing one problematic law isn’t enough. Instead, future governments must entirely rethink the issues surrounding cyber-law and #pressfreedom to ensure lasting change.
