Ahead of the 2026 #grammy Awards, Rolling Stone spent time with @Tylaofficial as she got her glam done to talk about her new album, 'A-POP' (out this summer), what it was like attending her first #grammys back in 2024, and pushing African music and culture forward. #grammyaward #grammys2026

On repping #africanmusic: "I'm very grateful that I get to be one of the African artists that can push our music further and our culture further. We all like slowly moving it further and further and further. The fact that I'm there and on these stages...I just think about all the ones before me that pushed it further for me to even be here. Yeah, it's a blessing. All the African queens and kings back home...we up. We up."

On her new album: "Me being in it, I feel so different to how I felt during the first album. So I'm just excited for my new one that's coming this year. Just to see how different it is like...what's this Tyla now? Look guys, I've been through stuff. I don't know, I feel like a woman. I'm 24, it was my birthday the other day. I feel like a woman. I'm more comfortable with it, you know. I feel like the first album, it was very hectic, it was a rush. It was like all of a sudden, overnight, craziness. Now that I'm settled in, I feel like I know more of my direction. What I want to do, what I want to say."

On attending the 2024 Grammys: "I was surprisingly very calm. And when they called my name, I don't know, I blacked out. I was all of a sudden on stage. And I said the first thing that came to my head...which was what I said. That moment was so special, my mom was there, my father was there."
