FINAL FAREWELL: Family, friends and fellow officers are gathering this morning to say goodbye to Nassau County Police Officer Patricia Espinosa, 42, with a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Smithtown. 

Police say Espinosa was driving west on Route 347 near the Smith Haven Mall on Jan. 31 when 20-year-old Matthew Smith allegedly ran a red light while driving drunk and crashed into her car. Smith has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated and remains hospitalized, where he has not yet been arraigned.
