## Caption

Despite his lack of fully formed feet, Metric gets around quite well! A footed-lacerta would be able to climb and walk *better* but Metric is able to get around well enough that he has good quality of life. Jeweled lacertas are largely terrestrial, so he is not being denied significant natural behaviors. 

If he was a footless arboreal lizard, like a crested gecko, I would have more concerns about quality of life because climbing is essential to them. Evaluating QOL and being able to make difficult decisions if necessary is important when caring for disabled animals. 

Thankfully, most of my reptiles have fairly self-manageable disabilities, although I think I’m going to bring my leachianus gecko with scoliosis to my vet soon to see if starting her on longterm pain meds is a viable option since she’s been less active lately and I’m worried that her spinal deformity is causing pain.
