‘The Silent Search of the Sentient Soothsayer – Day’ (2025) and ‘The Silent Search of the Sentient Soothsayer – Night’ (2025) depict the artist as a solitary figure surrounded by an extensive dry garden.⁠
⁠
The works capture elements of the Desert Garden at The Huntington in California, where Raqib’s touring exhibition ‘Ballads of East and West’ closed towards the end of last year.⁠
⁠
Currently, the artist’s eponymous work ‘Paradise Lost’ (2009-25), a more than 100-foot-wide, 21-panel painting, is on view at the Art Institute of Chicago until 15 November 2026.⁠
