As a staff, we have been blown away by the efforts of the SIU community to roll up their sleeves and work hard for our student-athletes. As we began to build upon our foundation, we discussed the attributes that would make up our program’s identity. 

The acronym PILLARS was formed by the 7 principles we choose to honor and strive for every day. Passion for how we do things. Integrity for how we go about things. Loyalty toward the opportunity we’ve been given. Learning how to follow, so that we may display Leadership when called upon. Accountable for our actions and those within our family. Respect for the sacrifices of those that came before us, demonstrated in how we carry ourselves. Finally, why I believe we are all here, is to Serve freely. Led by our faith as an obligation to give back for all we have been given. 

Our team and staff will honor a member of the SIU and Southern Illinois area with a small gift, as a thank you and recognition for going above and beyond to display the PILLARS that support our basketball family.

This week's Women’s Basketball PILLARS Spotlight goes to…

Dr. Paul Frazier

Mr. 8 for 8 is what we call him! Every recruit we’ve had that he’s visited with has committed! He shares a love so strong for this student body, most people think we stage it when almost every student walking by calls his name. He has gone out of his way to make sure we all are transitioning well. While we’d like to think it’s because we're special.
