## Caption

There have been 22 North Atlantic right whale calves sighted so far this calving season! This is the first time in 15 years that more than 20 calves have been documented. The 20th calf was previously confirmed when it was seen by a boater who reported the sighting through NOAA’s hotline 877-WHALE-HELP (877-942-5343) on January 20, but it had not been photographed by aerial survey teams until now. Yesterday, on January 30, the Clearwater Marine Aquarium Research Institute aerial survey team in South Carolina spotted Giza (right whale catalog #3020) and her new calf east of Ocean Park, SC.
