When people ask me why I wanted to start this new 🎙️project with @Sarah Turney, my answer is this: At a young age, I learned that someone I was VERY close to, my grandma, killed her own mom. It was very shocking to me and at 12 years old, I couldn’t process that information. I only had 2 news articles to go off of (which didn’t say much by the way) and so into adulthood I was left with SO many questions. Why did she do this? How? What happened after? How could this have been handled differently? And at age 22, I posted a 15 second TikTok giving the basic details of what my grandma did, and by complete surprise, it went viral. I then had SO many people asking me questions that I honestly didn’t have the answers to as no one in my family was willing to talk about that part of their lives. So, I sought the case files myself, and from those I learned so much information. Some of it VERY disturbing that I was not prepared for. But it gave me a sense of closure to the entire situation. After that, I dedicated the rest of my time trying to help other families spread awareness of their loved ones stories, whether they were missing, m*rdered, unsolved or not. So, starting this new 🎙️ project is very meaningful to me. As someone whose family has been impacted by crime, I feel that my perspective is unique. I know how these stories impact the real people involved, as does Sarah. Her story is equally as impactful. I’m very excited for this to be released on February 23rd, because I think our voices combined will truly make a difference, and at the very least, it will be a place for you all to feel safe and seen.
