Back on campus at miamilawschool, where I served as Editor-in-Chief of the Race & Social Justice Law Review, to speak on a “Fireside Chat” panel about the importance of joining a law review and the lasting benefits that come with it—in law school and beyond.

I absolutely treasure my time as a member of rsjlr. As EIC, my focus for Volume VI was mass incarceration and its ripple effects on communities of color. We invited legal scholars and practitioners to speak on campus and publish articles that delved into different aspects of this phenomenon.

It was also during that time I served as a fellow at the aclufl, supporting staff attorneys working on litigation challenging alleged violations of various constitutional protections. I can’t overstate how much the work I did then—and what I’ve continued to do quietly over the years—shapes how I see the moment we are in now. 

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve received DMs from people asking how they can help in the current climate. Here are a few places I would start:

- Call your reps and make your demands regarding these various federal agencies known (defunding, accountability, policies and procedures, etc.)
- Donate to organizations like aclu_nationwide, americansforimmigrantjustice, or your local legal aid
- Educate yourself, and others, on your constitutional rights
- Sponsor a summer fellow or donate to a law school clinic that does this work on the ground
- Offer pro bono support to help lighten the load for staff attorneys at orgs engaged in impact litigation (this is for lawyers, paralegals, etc.)

Do what you have space for. As a mom, I’m moved to action because of my sweet Summer & Cooper. Who moves you? ❤️
