Derry came from behind on the opening night of the #LOI to begin their title challenge against Sligo Rovers.

Alex Bannon hit the net in the 81st minute to equalise Ja Hakiki's first half strike and in the 91st minute up popped Joshua Thomas to score the winner and give Derry City the perfect start to the new season.

Elsewhere Jago Godden scored a 91st minute winner as Drogheda left Galway with all three points while Waterford FC denied Shelbourne a winning start, Tom Lonergan's 55th minute goal cancelling out John Martin's early strike for the visitors.
