The once lavish home of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar will soon be publicly auctioned with a starting price of 7.7 billion Colombian pesos, or US$2.1 million. ‘La Manuela’ in Antioquia is believed to be named after Escobar’s daughter and has fallen into decay after the downfall of its former owner. ⁣

The proceeds of the estate’s sale will compensate the victims of drug trafficking and fund social projects in violence-affected areas, say the Colombian government, who last year also transferred former Escobar land to rural women as part of a reparations program. ⁣
