#PeopleofJSU: "Before I chose Jackson State, I wasn't sure if I would attend college. 

I was a 'C' student, but I played every single sport in high school. I didn't know what I was going to do with my life. I just knew I had to do something.

Everything changed when my calculus teacher told me about a physics internship program at JSU.  I didn't know anything about physics, but I stepped out in faith and curiosity. 

Now, I love deep-diving into physics, playing around with chemicals and learning more about my field. 

The physics department prepares me for the real world by sending me to conferences where I can get my feet in the field, learn about more opportunities and meet other physicists who look like me. 

I attended 8 different conferences over 8 weeks leading up to my internship at Harvard University. From Chicago to New York, I've conducted research across the nation.

I've learned to navigate the field, stay open-minded, and inspire other students to seek opportunities."
