Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is an all-new high-speed spinning roller coaster coming to Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Florida. Built by Intamin, both coasters will feature unique track layouts while sharing the same adrenaline-fueled DNA inspired by the Fast & Furious film franchise.

Each attraction will feature spinning ride vehicles themed to iconic movie cars, along with a powerful linear synchronous motor launch system that propels riders into a high-speed street-race experience. The Hollywood version is currently in testing and is expected to open in summer 2026. The Florida installation is scheduled to debut in 2027.

The project was first rumored in May 2022 when speculation began about a Fast & Furious-themed coaster at Universal Studios Hollywood. Shortly after, Animal Actors (Stage) on Location and the Special Effects Stage show permanently closed to make way for construction. On July 12, 2023, Universal officially confirmed a new Fast & Furious roller coaster was on the way. In May 2024, the ride was revealed as Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift and promoted as the park’s first-ever high-speed outdoor roller coaster. Track installation was completed by April 2025.

At Universal Studios Florida, a similar but not identical version of the ride is under construction. Announced in January 2026, the Florida coaster will feature many of the same elements, including 360-degree spinning vehicles. It will also include a dramatic 170-foot vertical spike near Universal CityWalk and is being built on the former site of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit.

On June 12, 2025, Universal Studios Hollywood released official concept art and promotional footage showcasing riders racing and spinning along the track in vehicles inspired by the films. The coaster stretches approximately 4100 feet and will reach speeds up to 72 miles per hour, making it the fastest Universal coaster in the world.

A full-scale model of Dom’s 1970 Dodge Charger RT ride vehicle was also unveiled ahead of the Mega Movie Summer event, featuring lap bar seating and onboard speakers. The model remained on display through August 10, 2025.

On February 5, 2026, Universal released a 30-second television commercial narrated by Vin Diesel, announcing that Hollywood Drift will open in summer 2026. The advertisement is set to air during Super Bowl LX, the 2026 Winter Olympics, and the 2026 NBA All-Star Game.

This coaster marks a major new chapter for Universal theme parks and brings the world of Fast & Furious to life like never before.
