Meryl Streep has officially been cast in the long-anticipated Joni Mitchell biopic. 🤩

The announcement puts to rest months of speculation, after rumors of Streep’s involvement first surfaced in July 2024.

Streep is expected to play an older version of Mitchell, while Anya Taylor-Joy has been rumored to portray the singer in her younger years, though her casting has not been confirmed. 👀

Director Russell Crowe has been developing the biopic for roughly five years, drawing on his decades-long relationship with Mitchell, which began after he interviewed her for Rolling Stone in 1979.

Speaking on ‘The Late Show’ in October 2025, Crowe emphasized that the film is being shaped closely with Mitchell herself, offering an intimate portrayal of her life and music from her own perspective.
