South Carolina set the early tempo, opening on a 16-7 run behind strong guard play and efficient offense. Meechie Johnson carried the Gamecocks early, scoring 15 of his career-high 35 points in the first half. Texas gradually settled in and closed the opening period on a 7-3 spurt to take a 35-31 lead into halftime, with Matas Vokietaitis scoring eight points and Swain adding seven before the break. The Longhorns gained control midway through the second half. Camden Heide knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers to give Texas a 56-50 lead with 10:37 remaining, marking the first time the Longhorns created real separation. South Carolina continued to respond and trimmed the deficit to 70-68 with 3:23 left following a brief 5-0 run. Swain answered at the other end with a jumper and a dunk to steady Texas, and Tramon Mark followed with a pull-up jumper from the free-throw line area with 38.2 seconds remaining to extend the lead to 80-71. Texas closed the game at the free-throw line, finishing 29-of-36 at the stripe. Mark finished with 18 points for Texas (14-9, 5-5 SEC), while Heide and Vokietaitis added 12 apiece. Swain was perfect from the line, going 9-for-9. Johnson’s 35 points led all scorers for South Carolina (11-12, 2-8), with Elijah Strong contributing 12 points as the Gamecocks dropped their fourth straight game.
