For the 27th time, Syracuse men’s lacrosse will compete in the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament when it faces Maryland at Gillette Stadium in pursuit of its 11th National Championship Saturday.

Boston native and Syracuse goalie Jimmy McCool has always dreamt of returning to Massachusetts for championship weekend. His 12-save performance in a 19-18 quarterfinal win over Princeton made it come true.

A broken arm earlier this season briefly derailed attack Finn Thomson’s junior campaign. But since his return against Duke on April 19, Thomson has exploded for seven goals in six games, two of which came in the one-goal win over the Tigers.

Before guiding the Terrapins to their fourth Final Four appearance in five years, head coach John Tillman coached at Ithaca College after playing four years at Colgate and Cornell. Now, he's helped Maryland win the last seven contests against the Orange.

Finally, before the opening faceoff, our beat writers looked at Syracuse's 2000s Final Four teams, spanning National Champions and semifinal exits.
