Syracuse football's custom threads, Syracuse University's merit aid packages and honorees for the Alfie Jacques Ambassador Award feature in The Daily Orange's third regular print issue of the year.

News: In May, SU offered thousands of dollars per year in additional merit aid to prospective students who hadn’t accepted their admissions offer. Families who were not offered the aid expressed frustration over the differing financial packages.

THE PEACEKEEPER: Oren Lyons’ life revolves around preserving Indigenous culture. At 95 years old, he continues to serve as the Haudenosaunee’s beacon for hope, and was honored with the Alfie Jacques Ambassador Award Friday night.

Culture: Lilyan Minicozzi learned how to repurpose older items into functional pieces as a child. Now, the SU senior has built a social media presence through her work sustainably threading pieces and generations together by giving old items new life. Design by @caroline_daugherity.

Opinion: Since the pandemic, dependence on scrolling TikTok has overtaken younger generations who find unmatched community on the platform. Our columnist urges readers to put an end to doomscrolling before TikTok’s looming ban and prioritize interests beyond their screens. Design by Lily Wilkin.

@dailyorangesports: Roy Simmons Jr., often referred to as "the godfather of lacrosse,” is one of the sport's most prominent icons. He was honored Friday with the Alfie Jacques Ambassador Award for his impact on the game. Design by @addieguan.
