Most people try to get better at street photography by upgrading gear, watching a million tutorials, or obsessing over settings, but that’s not what levels you up fast.

The real cheat code is training your eye. Learning to see the world differently.

Because if you can’t notice the moment, the light, the gesture, the layers, none of the “perfect settings” matter.

Your camera can only capture what you’re able to notice in the first place.

Once your eye gets sharper, everything gets easier, composition, timing, storytelling, even editing becomes simpler because you’re already making better decisions in the moment 🔥

3 tips to train your eye:

1. Do “frames first” walks (no shooting for 10 minutes)
Walk and just hunt for frames. Look for backgrounds, leading lines, pockets of light, clean negative space. Only start shooting once you’ve found a frame worth waiting on.

2. Pick one thing to hunt per session

Examples: “reflections only,” “red objects,” “shadows,” “hands,” “layers,” “people entering light.” Constraints force your brain to notice patterns you normally ignore.

3. Start pre-visualizing the moment before it happens
When you see a good background, don’t chase people. Stay. Predict who’s about to step into the frame, wait for the gesture, the spacing, the timing. Street gets way easier when you stop reacting and start anticipating.
