The Guinea–Canary Convergence Zone is a region along the coast of West Africa where warm and cold ocean currents meet, making it a global biodiversity hotspot teeming with marine mammals and fish that sustains millions of people🐟🐬🪸⁣
⁣
But the industrial fishing industry is plundering these waters, taking too much, too fast, destroying fragile ecosystems and stripping local fishing communities of their livelihoods💔⁣
⁣
West African nations are ready to champion a fully protected High Seas marine sanctuary in the region. Protection would halt destructive industrial fishing and allow the ocean to recover– so fish can return, and future generations can inherit a living ocean.⁣
⁣
Tell your government to follow these countries' example and create ocean sanctuaries.⁣
