## Caption

“There was nothing. No heavenly choirs. No pearly gates," recalls Salman Rushdie as he watched his blood spread across the floor after a brutal knife attack in 2022. Rushdie, who is now 78, lost his right eye, and came close to dying. He's come to terms with the attempt on his life by writing a book about it called, simply, "Knife." #salmanrushdie #author
