I don’t know about you, but Sunday’s #benitobowl was exactly what we all needed right now - a CELEBRATION of culture, dance, music, and of what being an American CAN and DOES look like.  Bad Bunny’s unapologetic way of being true to himself, his voice, and his culture for his entire career has been a JOY to experience - and Sunday was a true celebration of all of that!

I say that as this week marks 16 years since the inception of Bare Feet.  16 years ago, I woke myself up in the middle of the night with a vision of what Bare Feet is today - a joyful, respectful way of connecting with the world through dance & music.  16+ years of making new friends by dancing with strangers.  And everyone thought I was NUTS when I told them I was going to make a TV show where I travel and dance with the world…everyone thought I was nuts…except me.

These past 16 years have also made me realize this one thing - for the countless times that communities have taken me right in, none of them HAD to be so welcoming, ever.  As an American today, I often question if we even deserve that hospitality, that openness, that generosity.  If there’s anything you got from Bad Bunny’s halftime show, love IS more powerful than hate.  Connection is what makes us human.  And music and dance will help bring us together. 

Every day I am grateful to the thousands of people who open their doors with open arms and let me join them on the dance floor ❤️
