Rebecca Richards-Kortum is a bioengineer developing low-cost medical technologies to improve global health.

She is known for providing vulnerable populations with access to life-saving health technologies that address high-morbidity diseases and conditions, such as cervical and oral cancer, premature birth, sickle cell disease and malaria.

As a plenary speaker for #OpticaBiophotonics26, we asked what the meeting means to her: "The Biophotonics Conference is one of my favorite technical meetings, because it brings together a diverse group of innovative optical engineers and scientists who share a common purpose to translate these advances into better health.
