At just 21, Vancouver-based photographer Isami Kiyooka (isami_kiyooka) has already carved out a rare spot in the world of snowboarding photography. He picked up his first Canon at 15, and by 19 he’d gone all-in on photography, taking buses to contests, crashing on floors, and chasing every chance to shoot.
That dedication now has him on the road ten months a year, working with brands like Red Bull, Adidas, Monster, Burton, and most consistently, the U.S. Snowboard Team—one of the only full-time national team photographer roles in the world. His work has taken him to dream mountains worldwide and earned recognition like the Arc’teryx WSSF Pro Photographer Showdown wildcard, with the upcoming milestone of becoming the youngest winter sports photographer to shoot the Winter Olympics.
