December 11, 1971 the Livingston Tigers faced undefeated Arkansas Tech at Legion Field in Birmingham. It was a great day for the Tigers who combined an aggressive, hard-hitting defense with a timely offense for a 14-12 win and the 1971 National Championship. The Outstanding Defensive Player of the Game, Nels Strickland led the Tigers with 15 tackles, 7 assists, and an interception. #LU50Years #nationalchampions
