As the weather changes, the cozy meals begin to

There’s something so special about having friends over and sharing a meal together, especially when you’re making those memories with your kids 

The kids now ask on weekends if we can invite our friends for dinner and as a mom that warms my heart! 

This past weekend we did braised beef with garlic mashed and Parmesan roasted broccoli and it was food for the soul! 

Recipe below:

Take a chuck roast or short ribs and cut into good sized pieces. Pat dry with paper towel and season well with flakey sea salt and dredge in flour. Shake off excess

Add some oil to a Dutch oven or cast iron pot and sear beef on all sides for about a minute on each side. Remove from pan and set aside 

Add 4-6 chopped carrots, 4-6 stalks of chopped celery, and 1 onion chopped to pan. Cook down for about 5 minutes. Add a full bottle (minus a glass to enjoy) of red wine to the pot as well as an entire carton of beef broth. Add a head of garlic cut in half, a few springs of rosemary and season with salt and pepper. Add a couple tablespoons of peppercorns and brown sugar. Bring to a simmer and add beef back to pot 

Put the lid on and put in the oven at 325 for about 2-3 hours (until the beef is very tender and nearly falling apart) 

Remove the meat from the pot once cooked and strain the sauce. Cook down and reduce until about half. Serve with red wine sauce over a bed of mashed potatoes
