Latinoamérica is represented at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina by 40 athletes from countries including Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia, and Uruguay. Mexico’s Donovan Carrillo and mother-son duo Sarah Schleper and Lasse Gaxiola have made history, with Carrillo becoming the first Mexican to qualify for two consecutive finals in the Winter Olympics after qualifying for the men’s Single Skating final this week and Schleper and Gaxiola becoming the first mother-son duo to compete at the same Winter Games.

“I hope I’ve shown the world that Mexicans can achieve big goals, like making it to the Olympic Winter Games, and inspired people in Mexico to fight for their dreams,” Carrillo told the International Olympic Committee. “When you’re crazy enough, and you work hard enough, you can achieve amazing things.”

Many countries including Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Uruguay, and Puerto Rico are represented by only one athlete. Skeleton slider Kellie Delka, who is originally from Texas but moved to Puerto Rico in 2018, has represented the island at the Winter Olympics since 2022.
