Hofstra University had the pleasure of welcoming former White House Press Secretary and civic activist k_jeanpierre as our Black History Month signature speaker. 

Ms. Jean-Pierre grew up in the Village of Hempstead to Haitian immigrant parents, and recalled her upbringing right here in our community.

The keynote speech was attended by the Hofstra community, including our local surrounding communities and students from 18 local schools. Ms. Jean-Pierre participated in a panel, and engaged with Hofstra student media.

She recollected her time in the White House, her career in government and politics, and spoke about and signed her books, “Moving Forward” and “Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines”.

We thank the Hofstra University Cultural Center for coordinating the days’ insightful, engaging, and motivational programming. 🦁
