TAXING LONG ISLAND:  Thousands of Long Islanders could see relief on their property tax bills as the Town of Smithtown holds a public hearing next week on new state-approved property tax exemptions. �

If adopted, the exemptions would apply to the town portion of bills, about 11% of most taxpayers’ total. Each town, school district and county on Long Island must decide individually whether to opt in. Watch News 12 for more on today’s Taxing Long Island.
