After struggling with what was initially thought to be vertigo and heat exhaustion, a team-mandated MRI in September 2023 revealed a large brain tumor (medulloblastoma). Brooks underwent emergency surgery just days later. While the procedure was successful in removing the mass, complications led to multiple strokes, leaving the elite athlete with permanent physical disabilities. His journey since then has been a masterclass in resilience—relearning how to speak, eat, and move while remaining a constant source of inspiration for the Tigers from his wheelchair.
